The Core Life Skills Training under the No Business as Usual programme equips young people with essential skills to thrive in life and work. Through practical sessions, participants learn to think critically, communicate confidently, manage stress, and solve problems. These skills empower them to make informed decisions, adapt to challenges, and succeed in business or employment. For over 8 years, more than 1,000 youth have benefited from this transformative training.
Our Approach
The Core Life Skills Training is a transformative learning experience delivered through 14 carefully structured and interactive sessions. It takes participants on a personal journey of self-discovery, confidence-building, and career exploration. Each session is designed to spark reflection, deepen self-awareness, and build practical life and workplace skills that are essential for young people navigating adulthood in today’s world. At the heart of the training is peer-based learning; participants engage in open discussions, group activities, and real-world simulations that allow them to learn not just from the facilitators but from each other’s experiences, perspectives, and ideas. The sessions are led by trained facilitators who bring warmth, empathy, and structure to the learning environment, supported by detailed guides, engaging materials, and proven tools. To provide deeper support, each young person is also matched with a personal coach who walks with them throughout the training. These coaches play a pivotal role, offering one-on-one guidance to help participants uncover their unique strengths, clarify their values, and set meaningful personal and professional goals. The training is delivered in both in-person and virtual formats, including active WhatsApp groups that create space for continued conversation, reflection, and support beyond the physical classroom. These digital communities have become vibrant hubs for peer connection and even spark local alumni initiatives long after the formal training ends. What makes the Core Life Skills Training truly impactful is its adaptability. It has been successfully embedded in a range of programmes, such as the SOS Family Strengthening Programme and other youth-focused empowerment projects, reaching young people from diverse backgrounds. The training doesn’t just teach skills; it builds resilience, unlocks potential, and lays the foundation for a generation of young people to take charge of their futures with confidence and purpose.
