Entrepreneurship

The Entrepreneurship Track empowered youth to develop business ideas, covering business ideation, customer identification, branding, product development, and marketing. By program completion, participants had developed comprehensive business plans to guide their ventures. For those lacking hands-on experience, the program offered hard skills training in fashion, hairdressing, makeup, baking, and leatherwork through specialized service providers in Greater Kumasi. Over six (6) months to a year, trainees gained practical, industry-specific expertise. Those meeting key criteria; registered businesses, operational space, certification, and completed business plans, received startup tools to launch their business.

Our Approach

Through mentorship from business development experts, young entrepreneurs sharpen their skills in product development, sales, and marketing strategy. In addition to this guidance, participants receive startup support in the form of practical hard skills training, essential business tools, and assistance with business certification, all of which equip them to launch and grow sustainable ventures. This hands-on support empowers them to structure their ideas professionally, navigate regulatory requirements, and operate with greater confidence.

Business Incubation

Several promising entrepreneurs from the NBU Entrepreneurship Training programme and the wider community progressed to the incubation phase, where their business ideas received more focused and intensive support. During this stage, trainers, coaches, and mentors provide hands-on guidance tailored to the realities of early-stage entrepreneurship, helping participants refine their models, strengthen operations, and overcome growth-related hurdles. The NBU team also actively collaborates with local entrepreneurship support ecosystems, including hubs, accelerators, and financial institutions, to co-create solutions for the unique challenges these emerging businesses face, ensuring they are not only viable but positioned for long-term success.
